Jacobite battlefields, Bronze Age cairns and a working castle — centuries of Highland history, all close to Inverness.
Your Day
Pickup point — usually your hotel or a central spot in Inverness (exact point to be discussed when you book)
Culloden Battlefield — site of the last pitched battle on British soil, 1746 — the visitor centre tells the full story
Clava Cairns — Bronze Age burial cairns, quiet and atmospheric, a short drive from Culloden
Cawdor Castle grounds — gardens and grounds of the castle linked to Shakespeare's Macbeth
Fort George (optional) — one of Europe's best-preserved 18th-century fortifications, if time allows
Route follows the actual road out to Culloden and Cawdor, and back to Inverness. Order and exact stops can flex on the day.

Good option for Outlander fans — Clava Cairns inspired part of the story
Yes — Clava Cairns is widely understood to have inspired parts of the Outlander story, and Culloden itself features in the show's timeline.
Culloden Battlefield has flat, well-maintained paths; Clava Cairns is a short walk from parking. Nothing strenuous.
No, entry to the visitor centre and exhibition is a separate ticket, paid on the day. The battlefield grounds themselves are freely accessible.
Yes — it pairs naturally with a Loch Ness half-day, or as a shorter add-on if you're arriving or departing via Inverness Airport.
As a half-day it's around 4 to 5 hours; add Fort George or extend the pace and it can fill a fuller day.
